3D Zombie Archery at Insight Activities, Dorchester: Our Family Review

3D Zombie Archery at Insight Activities, Dorchester: Our Family Review

If you're looking for something a little different to do with the family in Dorset, particularly during the Halloween season, 3D Zombie Archery at Insight Activities near Dorchester is well worth considering. Combining archery with realistic zombie targets in a woodland setting, it's a fun alternative to the usual pumpkin patches and spooky trails.

Last weekend, Paul took Elliot and Erin along to give it a go, and all three came away having really enjoyed the experience. The zombie targets were a particular hit with the kids, while Paul loved having the opportunity to spend time outdoors with the family, away from screens for a few hours.

Disclosure: Our visit to Insight Activities was gifted. All opinions are our own.

What is 3D Zombie Archery?

Insight Activities offers outdoor adventure experiences in Dorset, including a woodland archery experience with a spooky twist.

Rather than shooting at traditional target boards, 3D Zombie Archery involves aiming at realistic three-dimensional zombie targets around a woodland course. The setting adds to the atmosphere, making it feel more like an adventure than a standard archery session.

It's a particularly good idea for families looking for something different to do in the run-up to Halloween, especially if you have older children who enjoy a bit of action and trying something new.

Our Experience at Insight Activities

One of the things we liked about this experience was that you didn't need any previous archery experience to take part. Paul and Elliot had tried archery before, but it was a first for Erin, so it was important that she felt comfortable giving it a go.

Before heading out onto the course, everyone took part in an introductory lesson. This was a great opportunity to learn the basics, understand how to use the equipment and get some practice in before tackling the targets.

The instructor was particularly helpful with Erin, taking the time to support her as she got to grips with something completely new. It's always reassuring when an activity caters for different experience levels and makes beginners feel included rather than left behind.

We also really liked the small group size. It meant they didn't feel rushed and could take their time enjoying the experience, rather than feeling as though they needed to hurry along to keep up with a large group.

The Zombie Targets Were a Hit!

The highlight for Elliot and Erin was undoubtedly the zombies! The realistic 3D targets made a welcome change from ordinary archery targets and added a fun, slightly spooky element to the activity.

The woodland setting worked really well with the theme, too. There's something much more entertaining about aiming at a zombie target hidden among the trees than shooting at a standard target on a field.

Although Paul and Elliot already had some archery experience, it was lovely that Erin could join in and enjoy it just as much, despite being a complete beginner. Having the lesson beforehand and a helpful instructor meant she could learn as she went along.

It's a good example of an activity that different members of the family can enjoy together, even if they're starting from very different levels of experience.

A Chance to Get Outdoors Together

For Paul, one of the best things about the visit wasn't just the archery itself. He particularly loved being outside with Elliot and Erin, enjoying some proper family time away from screens.

With so many of our everyday activities involving phones, tablets and computers, it's nice to find something that gets everyone outdoors and gives you a shared experience to talk about afterwards.

3D Zombie Archery offered just that. It was something different for all three of them to try together, with a little friendly competition and plenty of zombie-themed fun along the way.

All three really enjoyed the experience, which is always a good sign when you're looking for family activities that appeal to different ages.

Is 3D Zombie Archery Suitable for Families?

We'd recommend looking into this experience if your family enjoys outdoor adventures, trying new activities or anything with a Halloween twist.

You don't need to be an experienced archer to take part, as the introductory lesson covers the basics. This makes it a good option for families where some members have tried archery before and others are complete beginners.

The instructor's support also helped Erin feel comfortable trying something new, while the small group made the session feel relaxed rather than rushed.

The zombie targets are likely to be a big part of the appeal for children who enjoy spooky themes. If you're looking for something a little more active than a traditional Halloween trail, this could be a great alternative.
