Peter Rabbit The Tale of the Great Breakout DVD - Giveaway

Did you know that Peter Rabbit is over 100 years old now?! He first appeared The Tale of Peter Rabbit book in 1902 and has been delighting fans ever since. I remember reading Beatrix Potter books as a child and I think it's lovely that the generation are also able to enjoy the stories!

Abbey Home Media have recently released a brand new DVD, The Tale of The Great Breakout featuring Peter Rabbit and his friends.

When Mr. McGregor captures the whole squirrel tribe in his garden, Peter must stage a mass break out to save his friends.  Follow our hero Peter and his friends Benjamin Bunny and Lily Bobtail on their adventures and quest to save the day, overcoming obstacles and outsmarting predators, all the while finding fun and excitement in the most unexpected places.

With a taste for radishes and a thirst for adventure Peter Rabbit is the lovable and extraordinary friends you longed to hang out with when you were a kid. But when the chips are down and danger lurks, there's no better friend to have around then Peter and his boundless courage will always see him through.  Peter has an infectious enthusiasm for life and is also an irrepressible optimist. He is cool under pressure and his quick-witted mind is as nimble as his super fast legs

The DVD runs for 70 minutes and contains 6 exciting tales:

-The Tale of the Great Breakout
- The Tale of the Mystery Plum Thief
- The Tale of Benjamin's Strawberry Raid
- The Tale of the Downhill Escape
- The Tale of the Unguarded Garden
- The Tale of the Cat and the Rat

It also contains a free height chart which was a big hit in our house - Elliot has been lining up against it to see how tall he is!

Drumond Park's Og on the Bog Review & Giveaway

I don't know about your children, but Elliot loves toilet humour. He finds anything to do with bums and farting hilarious and if you tell him a poo joke you're his friend for life!

When we got offered a chance to try out Og on the Bog by Drumond Park I had a sneaking suspicion that it would be a hit in this household.....!

What Is It?!

Og on the Bog is a game for 2-4 players and for children 5+ however Elliot is only 3 and enjoyed it too so I wouldn't let the age recommendation put you off.

The aim of the game is to steal 3 loo rolls from Og (based on 4 players, 2 and 3 players must collect 4) but you have to be careful as Og will hear you and you need to do it without him noticing!

The game is really easy to set up and the instructions are easy to follow, a definite plus point when playing with younger children who don't have a lot of patience ;) You will need 3 AA batteries and a screwdriver to open the battery compartment though.

How Do I Play?

Excuse the lunch debris scattered around!!

Each player starts with one loo roll. The first player spins the spinner and there are 3 outcomes:

- The red cross means you have made a noise and it is not safe to try and steal a loo roll. Therefore your turn is over and the next player spins
- The hand holding the loo roll means you can steal a loo roll from any of the other players!
- The green tick means you are good to go, you can now try and steal a loo roll from Og.

You first have to press down on Og's front step to see if he has heard you. If he says anything (like "What's going on out there!" or "Is that someone after my loo rolls?!") this means he has heard you and your turn is over.

If Og farts or grunts then this means he hasn't heard you and you can steal a loo roll. Be careful though as you need a steady hand!

If Og does a giant trump, his bog will explode and you have to put two of your toilet rolls back. Play resumes once his bog has been put upright again!

What Did We Think?

If you're offended by ogres and bodily functions then this might not be the game for you but kids will love it! Elliot was a little scared the first time Og's bog exploded though so bear this in mind if your little ones are a bit nervy. Although once he saw Og on the bog he found it hilarious and the scare was forgotten.

The rules are very straight forward and the games don't last too long. Og on the Bog is a bit different and is bound to appeal to all ages!

RRP - £22.99

#TheChokeables - Raising Awareness with St John Ambulance & First Aid Kit Giveaway

I'm sure the fear of your baby or child choking is one that all parents share - infact, for 58% of us, it's a major fear. Would you know what to do?

79% of parents wouldn't know the correct technique for saving a baby from choking, which is a pretty scary statistic. St John Ambulance believe that everyone should have the skills and confidence to know what to do in an emergency. Knowing basic first aid can be the difference between life and death.

St John Ambulance have made a short memorable video, The Chokeables – featuring the voices of David Walliams, David Mitchell, Johnny Vegas and Sir John Hurt – that shows people how to help a choking baby.
In The Chokeables, a video launched earlier this year, the celebrities take on the characters of animated objects that could potentially choke babies: a small princess toy, a pen lid, a jelly baby and a peanut. They've joined together because they've had enough and want to show how easy it is to save a choking baby's life.

In just 40 seconds you can learn how to give first aid to a choking baby.

The St John Ambulance website is packed with useful information such as first aid videos, training courses and much more.

Orlando Holiday Planning & Mickey Mouse Giveaway!

To tie in with my Orlando themed holiday posts, I have a lovely Mickey Mouse plush for one lucky reader. Read on for more info and how to enter...

If you read my previous Orlando blog post you'll know that we are off to the Sunshine state later on in the year and I can't wait! Florida is such a great holiday destination and it's suitable for the whole family. We've been as a couple, with a group of friends and now this time with a little man in tow!

I love to plan and organise things and this kind of holiday does take a bit of planning if you are going to be visiting the parks. First things first you need to shop around to find the holiday you want and there are SO many different options. We've decided to book a private villa - it didn't actually work out any cheaper by not going through a holiday company but I liked the fact that I could choose the villa itself. Some of the big tour operators like Virgin will just allocate the villas on arrival...and that's not good for someone who likes to plan!! We know exactly where our villa is and have been emailing back and forth with the owner so we know exactly what to expect. It's going to be lovely having our own personal pool for the fortnight!

Aside from your flights and accommodation, one of the biggest costs is going to be park tickets and again, this takes a bit of planning. There are so many companies online who claim to have the cheapest tickets and it can be a bit bewildering when you first start looking!

My top tip is to sit down and work out exactly where you would like to visit, if you plan on park hopping, if you plan on returning to the same park multiple times and even if you plan on venturing out of Orlando! It's easy to think that Florida is just Disney and Universal Studios but there so many other attractions including Legoland, Busch Gardens, Seaworld, Kennedy Space Centre, a multitude of water parks and much more.

I looked into buying tickets separately for all attractions but the best value option for us was a combined ticket. I would like the flexibility of being able to return to the parks on a different day. As we are going with a toddler, we aren't able to plan our day too much because it depends how tired he is etc. But if we can return in the evenings after a nap then this is perfect!

A few friends recommended Florida Tix and they were the best value by far. We want to visit lots of the parks, including Busch Gardens in Tampa so we are going to be buying a Magic Combo ticket. This gets us 14 days unlimited admission to all the WDW parks plus both water parks, 14 days unlimited admission to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure (Hogwarts here I come!) and 14 days unlimited admission to Seaworld, Busch Gardens and Aquatica. On top of this is includes Disney Fastpass+ (will blog about this another time), free transport to Busch Gardens and much much more. The Magic Combo ticket costs £499 per person (told you it was a bit of an expense!) but this is great value for money when you look at the breakdown and how much you'll be able to see. As a bonus, kids under 3 are free so we won't need to pay for Elliot!

Competition Time

Florida Tix have kindly given us a plush Mickey Mouse to give away to our readers and you won't want to miss out on this! Elliot is also the proud owner of one and he loves it, he's been taking it to bed with him and talking all about when we go to "Dinsey" (Disney!)
